Earlier this month, I hosted another flower crown workshop but this one was different and specially near and dear to my heart. Not only did we create floral crowns but with that, we also helped change the lives of others by providing clean water to those in poverty. Each ticket sold=clean water for 1 person for a LIFETIME through World Vision.
Back in December, I was introduced to the incredible organization of World Vision and what they do for those in extreme poverty. I also learned about the clean water crisis which I was so naïve to at the time. Even in 2019, millions of people lack life’s essential of clean water. So many women and children must walk an average of 6k (one way) to their nearest water source and most of the time this water also breeds harmful bacteria that leads to sickness and even death. 50% of children die before the age of 5 due to water-related diseases, lack of sanitation and poor hygiene! When I found out about this horrific crisis, I knew I wanted to help. That’s when I said, “YES” to running the upcoming OC Half Marathon along with World Vision and bringing awareness to the clean water crisis. I hosted this workshop dedicated to turning Flowers into Water on Aug. 7th at the beautiful Sunset Hills tucked among the desert landscape within my own community. I am so thankful to have also worked with some of the most amazing vendors and sponsors that helped bring this event to fruition and even beyond my expectations.
With this workshop, we were able to bring 38 people in poverty clean water for a lifetime!
Thank you to everyone involved with this event! Kristen Booth captured so many memories from our day together and Katey Bug added extra fun touches by creating beautiful braided hairstyles on each guest who attended. Afloral donated all of the flowers which I’m truly grateful for so that all of the proceeds can benefit our cause. We also hosted many fun giveaways featuring local sponsors, ate from a yummy donut wall from Brier Rose Design and enjoyed custom cookies by Cub and Cuppy.
